The philosophy and organization of Harborside Counseling Services were conceived in 1989 by Robert Amer, LICSW and Pamela Amer, LICSW.

Today, Harborside Counseling Services has offices in Newburyport and Beverly with an interdisciplinary staff comprising thirty-eight licensed independent clinicians. It is the largest private mental health practice servicing the greater north shore of Boston and southern New Hampshire.

Our psychiatrist, clinical nurse specialists, psychologists, social workers and masters level mental health counselors provide a full range of out-patient mental health services. Each licensed clinician has training in one or more specialties, allowing our group to offer an extensive range of mental health services to the surrounding communities.

Harborside Counseling Services is a group of experienced therapists with backgrounds as supervisors, trainers, field instructors and past directors of clinics who have chosen to work together to practice in an enriching and collegial atmosphere. Our staff is dedicated to the highest standards of professional training and growth as demonstrated by our ongoing participation in workshops, consultations and advanced-training groups.
